Best Places to Take Photos in Dallas, TX

Dallas is a surprisingly photogenic city. Between the gleaming downtown skyline, lush green parks, colorful street art, and golden Texas sunsets, there's no shortage of incredible backdrops for portraits, engagement sessions, family photos, and creative shoots. As a Dallas-based photographer, these are my absolute favorite spots in the city.

1. White Rock Lake

White Rock Lake is probably the most popular photography location in all of Dallas — and for good reason. The 1,100-acre lake park offers a stunning mix of open water, wooded trails, wildflower fields, and a beautiful bathhouse that serves as a gorgeous architectural backdrop. Golden hour here is absolutely magical. This spot works beautifully for family portraits, couples, seniors, and everything in between.

2. The Dallas Arboretum

The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden is a world-class photography location that changes with every season. Spring brings a sea of tulips and azaleas. Summer fills the garden with rich greens. Fall is stunning with warm foliage. Winter offers the magic of Christmas lights. Note that professional photography sessions typically require a permit here, so plan ahead.

3. Deep Ellum

For bold, creative, and editorial-style photos, Deep Ellum is unmatched in Dallas. The neighborhood is packed with massive, vibrant murals that serve as incredible backdrops.
